Underlying Philosophy
European vehicles in their various iconations serve as a status symbol for those who drive them. The cars represent their drivers as persons of refinement, style, hip, achievement, and success. The automotive business is a service industry. European car owners deserve the best service, compassion, and care for them and their European vehicles. They have worked hard to achieve the success which has enabled them to purchase such expensive luxuries.
Brief History
Rennwerks has been in business for almost 14 years. It began life out of the interest of two individuals, Dave Standridge and Richard Steranka. They had a passion for racing and were frustrated at the lack of capable shops in the area that could support their hobby. The two talented drivers who loved racing Porsches, had met during several club events. In 1996, they were chatting over some food and beer at a bar in the Seattle, Washington, after finishing a club racing event. They decided to pursue professional racing in the American Le Mans, and Rolex Race Series. They achieved many honors and accolades. Rennwerks, means “Race Factory” in German. RennWerks was created to supplement their operations and to service the automotive needs of those individuals who are passionate about BMWs and Porsches.
In March 2006, Rennwerks was forced to move from its Mountain View location due to an unexpected last minute sale of the land on which the business sat. Dave Standridge remained as the original owner. Kevin Mitz, a master fabricator, crew chief, and driver for the race team purchased Richard Steranka’s half of the company and became the new co-owner.
Rennwerks relocated to Campbell, its current home. Its doors remained closed for nearly 8 months during the move while trying to obtain new permits and licenses in the City of Campbell.
Shortly before the move, Michael Johnson was hired with the request, “to help mold Rennwerks into a sustainable business.” With the inclusion of Michael Johnson’s skills and knowledge, the business expanded its capabilities to include Audi, Ferrari, Mercedes, and VW repair.
For more than Three years Michael has been the face that the clientele primarily see at Rennwerks. During the time he has been entrusted with basically running the company.
